Roma Finance is proud to announce a partnership with Embassy Village — a pioneering initiative in Manchester that is transforming the way homelessness is addressed. The project, which spans six railway arches along the canal side, will soon become home to up to 40 individuals, each with their own studio apartment, as part of a secure, supportive village community.
More than just a roof over their heads, Embassy Village will offer residents access to a village hall, sports space, and gardens — all designed to create a sense of stability, connection, and belonging. The ethos behind the project is clear: “It takes a city to raise a village.” Roma Finance is honoured to be one of over 70 businesses contributing to this collective effort.
Roma’s specific involvement will fund equipment for the village’s new joinery workshop — a vital space where residents will gain hands-on skills, build confidence, and experience the sense of pride that comes from creating something tangible. The workshop will also provide a safe, informal environment where participants can talk openly and begin to heal from past traumas.
Embassy’s proven model sees residents typically supported back into employment and private rental accommodation within just 14 months — a stark contrast to the national average of 15 years for someone experiencing homelessness.
Scott Marshall, founder and managing director at Roma, said: “We believe in the power of community, opportunity, and dignity, and we’re excited to be part of a project that aligns so closely with our values. In collaboration with Embassy and our fellow partners, we’re going to help build more than homes — we’ll rebuild lives.”
Sid Williams, Co-Founder at Embassy, added: “We are delighted to partner with Roma Finance at Embassy Village. It’s a very Manchester pairing! I was hugely grateful when Roma kindly agreed to sponsor all the equipment for our joinery workshop — but as they’ve learned more about the project, they’ve gone even further. They’re now committing to a longer-term journey with us, offering further funding, volunteering, and wider support in the years ahead. It’s partnerships like this that help bring the vision of Embassy Village to life.”
